It was dark and cold. The smell of fear filled the black room. Silent . Silent as though it was a cemetery. I was shivering, with my tremulous hands gripping on to myself. Nervousness engulfed me as footsteps could be heard. “Pump, Pump” went the sound as my heartbeat were synchronised with the footsteps. I went faster, faster and faster, and … “Bang” the door swing open.
The ray of light dawned on me. It was my turn. The effort I had put in was bound to result in a good performance. However, the cold that I had caught that morning made my heart sink. The crew ushered me out with a wave of his big and rough hands. The cheers and roars of the crowd frightened me. The pungent smell of excitement drowned the whole theatre, could not think much but to finish this performance and go home. The alley was dark but the lights guided me. The echoes of the crowd punched me and gave me goosebumps. The smell was getting longer.
The first step of my foot landed on the stage of kaleidescope colours. The thousands of spectators appalled me with their numbers. I could not help but have the thought of giving up. Suddenly, the theatre went dark. The ray of spotlight shone on me. The smell of peace and calm breezed past as the enchanted melody flowed in. The lights changed from a bright red to an azure blue. The ambience was just so magical. The audience seemed gone and I was performing for myself.
I uttered a tune and it sounded so magical as if a miracle had happened. I swayed to the melody and sang. I saw no one but clouds drifting in the sky and I was flying.
The melody stopped and the azure blue sky changed into the raging and excited crowd once more. The lights all went red, bright red. The crowd’s cheer signified that I gave a good performance. Pride was in me and the smell of pride filled my nose. I was glorified.
